I was still keeping my eye on this one, but there just didn't seem to be any characters (or creative teams) that I was particularly interested in, why is why I didn't end up buying anything beyond issue #1. That's why I feel it was a wasted opportunity.D. I thought it had everything in it without seeming too long or too short. Granted, yes Boston Brand ended up where he started, but I don't think that was the point. The DC Universe Presents isn't about connecting continuity or ties-ins or cross overs (though the 1-shot Arsenal and Starfire seemed to be connected to Scott Lobdells own story in the Red Hood and the Outlaws, but those issues haven't came out yet so we can't judge them right now).

I just feel the DCU Presents is just about characters who can't handle their own series, (hero or villain) and are given a small stand alone storylines away from continuity. Because of it, I think many people don't see the point in reading material that doesn't have anything to do with whats going on in the DC 52. Which is sad consider this series leaves so many opportunities for low named characters to get some spotlight once in a while, without giving them an ongoing series that might fail(looking at you Katana and Vibe) or purposely putting them on team books.

Either way, I loved the Deadman story and thought the Challengers was mediocre. And there is no point in complaining because its going to get cancelled and there is nothing to do about that. I kinda hope DC replaces it with another All-star/complication of DC heroes like Brave and the Bold or Superman/Batman series. Both would sell well from either of those two titles.AngryLionheart1https://www.blogger.com/profile/08551845755863689101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10945794.post-59972352122926663822013-02-18T11:21:39.580-06:002013-02-18T11:21:39.580-06:00I was a fan of the (fairly) recent Brave and the B...I was a fan of the (fairly) recent Brave and the Bold series, collecting all of the issues. I was enjoying it under JMS when he got too busy doing Wonder Woman, Superman, and the Earth One stuff and B&tB went away. So I was very interested in picking up its perceived replacement, DCU Presents.

But, I wasn't all that interested in Deadman, so I skipped that arc (well, I did read the first issue, along with all the other New 52 #1's). Challengers by DiDio? Nah, not really interested in that either. And so it went; it seemed like I kept waiting for a "wow, cool" story arc to come up, either with a compelling character or a great creative team, and it never seemed to come. And now the series has been cancelled.

I dunno, it just seems like a wasted opportunity to me, especially considering all of the potential stories in the New 52 that are out there.D.
