Certain elements seem to set up the pieces for Blackest Night, and Tomasi is part of the planning for that event. So it seems this TPB has bit more DC connectivity than the usual Nightwing book.Novaguynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10945794.post-5337371745948443942009-03-05T14:33:00.000-06:002009-03-05T14:33:00.000-06:00Good review! I'm bummed that the title just ended, but I'm curious to see what happens next with Nightwing.E. Not having been to NY very often, I can't say that the Cloisters wrung a bell for me - I actually thought more of where Clan Askani staged their war against Apocalypse in The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix.Bob Schoonoverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15371205595372517089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10945794.post-48218874522109796602009-02-19T19:44:00.000-06:002009-02-19T19:44:00.000-06:00Tomasi certainly impressed me here, and I'm intere...Tomasi certainly impressed me here, and I'm interested to read the next volume.

On Dick's job, Bob, your reasons are exactly why I was able to accept Dick as a gymnastics instructor, even if it seemed dramatically dull. But a museum curator? It just stretched my suspension of disbelief that he could learn enough to be the curator of the Cloisters (a well-known and famous museum) at the snap of his fingers.

Now, Oracle -- she could totally take the Cloisters.collectededitionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14698269790653953645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10945794.post-72525935128487642872009-02-19T14:32:00.000-06:002009-02-19T14:32:00.000-06:00I disagree on the part about being a museum curato...I disagree on the part about being a museum curator. I like the idea that Dick will keep changing jobs, interests, etc. to keep his personal (non-hero) life interesting.

Somebody raised by Batman probably shouldn't have a great grasp of normal, and Dick is otherwise well-adjusted (okay, he clearly has issues with women and intimacy, and that's probably related to being raised by Bruce Wayne). He's owned a circus, and performed in it (as a clown in Lonely Place of Dying), been a cop, taught gymnastics, and now he's a curator.

I guess I like the transience of the whole thing - if it's a personality trait, each new writer can put his own stamp on Dick w/o making it seem out of character.Bob Schoonoverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15371205595372517089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10945794.post-60686613740763874052009-02-19T09:14:00.000-06:002009-02-19T09:14:00.000-06:00No matter the little details, Tomasi did a great j...No matter the little details, Tomasi did a great job of reintroducing us to the REAL Dick Grayson/Nightwing who was lost to readers since Chuck Dixson.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
