Spurrier got three issues (the last of which was double-sized) to tell his story, so he got to make it richer and more complex, but I agree that he dropped the ball with the heroes' characterizations. Superman, Batman, the Flash and Green Lantern keep making short-sighted decisions while Wonder Woman is always right, which really got old.

Honestly, I enjoyed "The Garden of Mercy" more, because while it was a shorter, simpler story, Loveness really did his homework with the characterizations and references to older continuity, and I believe it was the first time they showed the Black Mercy's home planet.shagamuhttp://shagamu.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10945794.post-40528760039848474322021-05-27T10:53:50.771-05:002021-05-27T10:53:50.771-05:00I rather welcomed these issues, as they were a nic...I rather welcomed these issues, as they were a nice change of pace from the overwhelming and at times impossibly convoluted plotting of the giant meta-arc that has dominated DC for way too long now.Doctor Futurityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02586371999646337047noreply@blogger.com
