I feel there’s a story in the DC Comics Spring 2026 trade paperback and hardcover catalog solicitations, and some recent ones before it, about where DC Comics is right now. I don’t have inside knowledge, so I hate to say this is evidence of the Marie Javins era versus the Dan DiDio era, but there’s a couple things that strike me as different.
It is, mainly, the DC Finest books. The indication of a real initiative is how quickly can you go swimming in it; it took a long time, and ultimately never, until you could go swimming in the Earth One graphic novels. DC Finest, on the other hand, multiply like rabbits, and it’d be one thing if they were like Superman Chronicles, starting way back and taking forever, if ever, to catch up. No, we’ve got Golden Age Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, but you can also be making your way through major post-Crisis Batman, Mike Grell’s Green Arrow, John Ostrander’s Suicide Squad, Gail Simone’s Wonder Woman, Zero Hour, and now even the Superman Triangle Titles.
DC Finest seems significant, and expanding. Forty dollars for an average of 550 pages isn’t bad, either. I’m disappointed they’re not available digital, though I recognize that’s a bit too big for digital — it’s a bummer, but also, look at DC throwing so much at print. Bad for me, but let’s hear it for the industry. It is, in a way, the antithesis of the New 52 day-and-date pattern.
Neither am I the audience for omnibuses, so admittedly it does surprise me to see them proliferate, but clearly they’re good and continually sellers for DC — nearly a quarter of the books solicited are omnibuses. And DC clearly sees omnibus as part of the single issues-to-trades-to-omnibus pipeline; see the Batman by Chip Zdarsky Omnibus, arriving only about a year after Zdarsky’s final Batman issue, and the Titans by Tom Taylor Omnibus, less than two years after Taylor’s Titans ended. Not to mention New 52 omnibuses like Catwoman, Detective Comics Vol. 2, Earth 2, and Flash Vol. 2 — these sound logical, but if you were there in the New 52, none of these were guaranteed to ever be seen again once continuity changed. Whole runs of series — come see our history, warts and all — and collected exclusively in print. These are not the actions of a company back on its heels, worried about existential threats, like I think they were in 2011.
Two more thoughts. One, not only is Vertigo back, but there’s at least a dozen Elseworlds titles on this list, reprints and omnibuses and new stories. Elseworlds! Calling things like they were called once upon a time, not running away from that naming toward one monolithic brand. (Not to mention the second volumes of pseudo-Elseworlds Absolute Batman, Absolute Wonder Woman, Absolute Superman, Absolute Flash, and Absolute Green Lantern.)
Second, this year-or-so from launch to event really seems to be working. They’ve done it twice now — Infinite Frontier to Dark Crisis, Dawn of DC to Absolute Power, with DC All In underway, and it not only offers an overarching story that DC can use to juice their titles, culminating in a big event, but it also offers a place to relaunch often (the other way DC juices their titles) in ways that feel more natural than, like, Convergence. Neither Dark Crisis nor Absolute Power were perfect, but they were good enough, and each sequence feels as close as DC’s come to the “Countdown to Infinite Crisis” since 2006. That was a nut the old leadership never could crack, but it increasingly feels like the new DC’s got it.
There’s a whole catalog here to look at. Let me know what stands out to you.
- • 100 Bullets Book Four (New Edition) TP
New printing, collecting issues #59–80 by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso.
- • Absolute Batman Vol. 2: Abomination HC
- • Absolute Batman Vol. 2: Abomination TP
Coming in February in hardcover and paperback. No contents listed, but Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo collected issues #1–6, and it looks like the “Abomination” storyline goes maybe to issue #13?
- • Absolute Blackest Night (New Edition) HC
Collects Blackest Night #0—8, Untold Tales of the Blackest Night #1, DC Universe #0, Blackest Night Director’s Cut #1, and Green Lantern #43—48 and 50—52. After I read Blackest Night in trades, I re-read it in single issue order in 2011, which seems the closest to what’s collected here.
- • Absolute Daytripper (2026 Edition) HC
Re-collecting the 2010 10-issue Vertigo miniseries by brothers Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba.
- • Absolute Flash Vol. 2 HC
- • Absolute Flash Vol. 2 TP
In hardcover and paperback in June. The previous volume collected issues #1–6.
- • Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 2 HC
- • Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 2 TP
In hardcover and paperback in June, the second volume by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay. The previous volume collected issues #1–6.
- • Absolute Power TP
In February, paperback of the Mark Waid/Dan Mora event miniseries, following the hardcover.
- • Absolute Superman Vol. 2: Son of the Demon HC
- • Absolute Superman Vol. 2: Son of the Demon TP
In hardcover and paperback in March, the second volume by Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval. The first volume collected issues #1–6.
- • Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 2: As My Mothers Made Me HC
- • Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 2: As My Mothers Made Me TP
The second volume of the Eisner award-winning series by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman, in hardcover and paperback in February, collecting issues #8–14.
- • Animal Man by Tom Veitch and Steve Dillon Compendium TP
In paperback in April, collecting Animal Man #27–50, Suicide Squad #58, and War of the Gods #3 by Tom Veitch, Steve Dillon, and company. That Squad issue was also a “War of the Gods” tie-in; it didn’t feature Animal Man but did include a character who resembled Grant Morrison, echoing Morrison’s previous appearance in the Animal Man title — so, not related to Veitch’s run, but contemporaneous and Animal Man-adjacent.
- • Aquaman by Geoff Johns Book One TP
There were plenty drawbacks to the New 52, but Geoff Johns' Aquaman was undeniably a boon for the character. This volume collects issues #0–13, being Johns' Aquaman Vol. 1: The Trench and Aquaman Vol. 2: The Others, which I reviewed in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
- • The Bat-Man: Second Knight HC
Sequel to The Bat-Man: First Knight by Dan Jurgens and Mike Perkins, in hardcover in May.
- • Batgirl of Burnside: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
The hip run by Brenden Fletcher, Camron Stewart and Babs Tarr that veritably transformed the New 52 into the DC You. Collects Batgirl #35–52, Batgirl Annual #3, Secret Origins #10, and DC Sneak Peek: Batgirl #1. I reviewed Batgirl Vol. 1: Batgirl of Burnside, Batgirl Vol. 2: Family Business, and Batgirl Vol. 3: Mindfields in 2015 and 2017.
- • Batgirl Vol. 2: Bloodlines TP
In paperback in February, the second DC All In volume by Tate Brombal and Takeshi Miyazawa, collecting issues #7–11.
- • Batman & Robin by Grant Morrison: Absolute Edition HC
New printing (with “Absolute” bumped to the end), collecting Morrison’s Batman & Robin #1–16, Batman: The Return #1, Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1–6, and bonus content.
- • Batman and Robin by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason Book Three TP
Collects Batman and Robin #29–40, Batman and Robin Annual #3, Robin Rises: Omega #1, and Robin Rises: Alpha #1, the end of Peter Tomasi’s run on the series. The title would be relaunched a few months later as Robin, Son of Batman by Patrick Gleason alone. I reviewed the issues in Batman and Robin Vol. 7: Robin Rises in 2016.
- • Batman and Robin Vol. 2: The Gotham Cycle TP
In paperback in February by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and company, collecting issues #20–24.
- • Batman and Robin Vol. 3 TP
Coming in June in paperback by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and company. Contents are said to be just issues #25–28, though indeed that sounds short.
- • Batman and the Monster Men (New Edition) TP
New collection of the six-issue miniseries by Matt Wagner.
- • Batman Beyond: Unlimited Compendium TP
As we’ve been discussing over on the Facebook page, this is Superman/Batman Annual #4, 2010’s Batman Beyond #1–6, 2011’s Batman Beyond #1–8, Justice League Beyond #21 and #25, Superman Beyond #0, 2012’s Batman Beyond Unlimited #1–18 (including Superman Beyond adventures), and (finally, I’m told) Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker #1 (whether the original or revised version, we’re not sure yet).
Brighter minds can say for sure, but this seems to be DC Animated Universe-based Batman Beyond material, as opposed to the DCU-based Batman Beyond series that came out of New 52: Futures End and continued into DC Rebirth.
- • Batman by Chip Zdarsky Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
This is a quick turnaround on an omnibus, relatively, and between Titans by Tom Taylor and this (also the Detective Comics by Mariko Tamaki Omnibus, etc.), I’m starting to perceive a pattern among DC’s collections — a writer does a run, those issues are collected in individual volumes, and assuming it holds together well enough, then the whole run goes to omnibus. That’s not a bad thing, and particularly not when it comes to runs like Zdarsky’s, which might even read better all in one.
This is Batman #125–138, Catwoman #57–58, Batman: Urban Legends #1–6, Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Battle Lines #1, Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Scorched Earth #1, and Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Red Hood #1–2, being Batman: Urban Legends Vol. 1, Batman Vol. 1: Failsafe, Batman Vol. 2: The Bat-Man of Gotham, and Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War, with three Zdarsky trades still to follow for the next omnibus. I am rather surprised they didn’t include Zdarsky’s Batman: The Knight, as some characters from there appear here.
- • Batman by Darwyn Cooke: Absolute Edition HC
Said to collect Batman: Ego, Catwoman: Selina’s Big Score, Detective Comics #759–762, Catwoman #1–4, Batman: Gotham Knights #23 and #33, Solo #1 and #5, Batman/The Spirit #1, Batwing #24 and #26–27, Harley Quinn #0, New Talent Showcase #19, Harley Quinn Holiday Special #1, plus material from the Batman: Ego and Other Tails deluxe edition.
- • Batman by James Tynion IV Omnibus Vol. 2 HC
Collects Batman #52 (“The List,” final issue of the New 52 run, by Tynion and Riley Rossmo); Batman #106–117, Detective Comics #1027, Batman: Black & White #1, Joker #5–15, The Joker 2021 Annual #1, Batman Secret Files: The Gardener #1, Batman Secret Files: Peacekeeper-01 #1, Batman Secret Files: Miracle Molly #1, Batman: Fear State: Alpha #1, and Batman: Fear State: Omega #1. Can’t claim to understand all of this — starting the Joker series mid-run is perplexing — but what we have at least here is Batman Vol. 4: The Cowardly Lot and Batman Vol. 5: Fear State, the end of Tynion’s run.
- • Batman in the Seventies (New Edition) TP
Said to collect Batman #232, #237, #260; Batman Family #1; DC Super-Stars #17; and Detective Comics #407, #410, #442, #457, and #481, with such familiar stories as “Daughter of the Demon” and “There Is No Hope in Crime Alley.”
- • Batman: R.I.P.: Absolute Edition HC
This hasn’t ever been an Absolute before? No, seriously?! Collects Grant Morrison’s Batman #676–683, plus some or all of DC Universe #0 and Batman #701-#702. That is mostly the Batman RIP main story, which I reviewed in 2009. Said to also include “remastered artwork.”
- • Batman Vol. 1 HC
- • Batman Vol. 1 TP
In June in hardcover and paperback, collecting issues #1–6 by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez.
- • Batman: Dark Patterns TP
In paperback in March, the 12-issue miniseries by Dan Watters and Hayden Sherman.
- • Batman: Detective Comics Vol. 2: Elixir HC
- • Batman: Detective Comics Vol. 2: Elixir TP
In hardcover and paperback in February, the next volume by Tom Taylor and Mikel Janin, collecting issues #1097–1102, including the oversized issue #1100.
- • Batman: Detective Comics: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 2 HC
Collects Catwoman #27–28, Batgirl #27, Birds of Prey #27–28, Detective Comics #25–52, Batwing #27, Detective Comics Annual #3, Secret Origins #2 and #10, Detective Comics: Futures End #1, Convergence: Justice League #1, and Detective Comics: Endgame #1. Most of those non-Detective titles are part of the “Gothtopia” crossover. Talk about range — this goes from John Layman’s “Gothtopia” to Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato’s street-level Batman vs. gangs story “Icarus,” to Benjamin Percy and John Paul Leon’s contagion thriller “Terminal,” then Manapul and Buccellato write some equally street-level stories of Batman Jim Gordon parallel to Scott Snyder’s Batman: Superheavy, followed by more of the same from the crackerjack team of Peter Tomasi and Fernando Pasarin.
No idea how this will read all together, but it is some interesting comics. This is Detective Comics Vol. 5: Gothtopia, Detective Comics Vol. 6: Icarus, Detective Comics Vol. 7: Anarky, Detective Comics Vol. 8: Blood of Heroes, and Detective Comics Vol. 9: Gordon at War.
- • Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham - The Deluxe Edition HC
Finally complete and collected in deluxe hardcover, the four-issue miniseries by Rafael Grampa, coming in April.
- • Batman: Gotham by Gaslight: A League for Justice HC
In hardcover in late April, the six-issue Elseworlds miniseries by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez.
- • Batman: Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age TP
In hardcover in early April, the six-issue miniseries that kicked off the new age of Elseworlds, by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez.
- • Batman: Hush 2 HC
This had been solicited for December 2025, but now pushed back to March 2026, likely given the issue delays, and in hardcover only as far as the catalog is concerned. Collects Batman #158–163 by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, with six more issues rumored to follow later. I reviewed Absolute Hush back in 2005!
- • Batman: Sword of Azrael: Deluxe Edition HC
Sure, if anything deserves a deluxe edition, it’s Dennis O’Neil and Joe Quesada’s frenetic, compelling introduction to Azrael Jean Paul Valley, a character more compelling here than his later Azrabats portrayals would suggest. It’s the four-issue miniseries plus the intercompany crossover Azrael/Ash by the same team.
- • Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Tomorrow's Heroes TP
In paperback in April and said to collect issues #14–20, the final issues of the series. There are still some Brave and the Bold stories never collected, namely Ed Brisson’s “Stormwatch: Down With the Kings” that tied into Knight Terrors, and I’m not sure if there’s more after that; maybe DC will see fit to get any stragglers in a final volume.
- • Batman: The Bronze Age Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
No contents listed, but the cover shows Batman #244 from 1972 by Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams.
- • Batman: The Dark Knight Returns: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
Compact Comics printing of the famed Frank Miller miniseries.
- • Batman: The Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 3 (New Edition) HC
New printing of the omnibus, collecting Detective Comics #75–91, Batman #16–25, and stories from World’s Finest Comics #10–14.
- • Batman: The Movies (New Edition) TP
Collects the adaptations of Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin, all written by Dennis O’Neil and with Jerry Ordway on the first one. Guest reviewer extraordinaire Zach King reviewed Batman: The Movies in 2021.
- • Batman: Under the Red Hood: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
Collects Judd Winick’s Infinite Crisis-era Batman #635–641, #645–650, and Batman Annual#25. I reviewed Batman: Under the Hood and Batman: Under the Hood Vol. 2 in 2006–2007.
- • Batman: Universe: Deluxe Edition HC
Deluxe edition of the Brian Michael Bendis/Nick Derington stories that were originally published in the Walmart-exclusive Batman Giant titles. I reviewed Batman: Universe in 2020, calling it “a charming, lighthearted take on Batman that’s as fun as they come.”
- • Batman: Urban Legends Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
I can’t argue that DC’s omnibus game is strong in these solicitations. Clearly omnibuses are selling, and in contrast to the writer’s run-centric volumes and the event-centric volumes, this is another good idea — take everything from an anthology series and put it in one big book, and then you’ve got a volume that probably feels pretty full for the cost. Though the Urban Legends trades skipped around a lot, I’m guessing this collects Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Vol. 3, with the other three trades in the next volume.
- • Batman: White Knight: Absolute Edition HC
Fascinatingly, this Absolute edition of the eight-part Sean Murphy masterpiece is a “two-volume set showcasing both color and black & white versions of the story.” I reviewed Batman: White Knight, a fantastic Black Label title, in 2018; it doesn’t nearly feel like it’s been that long.
- • Batman: White Knight: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
The Black Label miniseries by Sean Murphy in Compact Comics format. I reviewed Batman: White Knight in 2018, which presented “a gritty, socially complex Gotham really only a hair’s removed from our own.”
- • Batman/Green Arrow/The Question: Arcadia HC
This collects the four-issue Black Label miniseries, just recently announced, by Gabriel Hardman, whose work I really enjoyed on Green Lantern: Earth One. Though Dennis O’Neil’s Question is available in omnibus, I would hope the popularity of something like this might spark DC to rerelease the trades.
- • Batman/Superman: World's Finest: Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 HC
Coming in fast — is it not since Tom King’s Batman that a series has hit deluxe while it’s still ongoing? Anyway, this is said to be issues #1–10 of the Mark Waid/Dan Mora series, collecting the World’s Finest Vol. 1: The Devil Nezha and World’s Finest Vol. 2: Strange Visitor stories, though Strange Visitor ends with issue #11, so I wonder if there’s an addition to be made.
- • Batman/Superman: World's Finest Vol. 8: 20,000 Leagues HC
- • Batman/Superman: World's Finest Vol. 8: 20,000 Leagues TP
Issues #35–37 and #40–43 (around the “We Are Tomorrow” crossover) by Mark Waid and company, in hardcover and paperback in March.
- • Booster Gold: The Complete 2007 Series Book Three TP
Collects issues #32–47 and the Time Masters: Vanishing Point #1–6 miniseries, by Keith Giffen, JM DeMatteis, Chris Batista, and Dan Jurgens.
- • Camelot 3000 TP
Collects the classic 12-issue miniseries by Mike W. Barr and Brian Bolland.
- • Catwoman: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
Collects the New 52 Catwoman #0–26, Catwoman Annual #1, Batman and Catwoman #22 (from Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason’s Batman and Robin), Batman: The Dark Knight #23.4: Joker’s Daughter, and stories from Young Romance: The New 52 Valentine’s Day Special #1.
To say this New 52 run started by Judd Winick was controversial when it came out is to wholly undersell the gory violence and tawdry sex that helped put the New 52 on the map. Ten-plus years later, to see it preserved in omnibus like a quaint museum piece, is amazing to say the least; everything becomes a distant memory sometime.
This includes issues from Catwoman Vol. 1: The Game, Catwoman Vol. 2: Dollhouse (continuity, if you’re reading the Detective Comics: New 52 omnibus at the same time), Catwoman Vol. 3: Death of the Family, and Catwoman Vol. 4: Gotham Underground. Those latter two books are by Ann Nocenti, trading crime drama for madcap superheroics, and I wasn’t a fan. The next omnibus should complete Nocenti’s run, plus two DC You volumes by Genevieve Valentine and a finale by Frank Tieri.
- • Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Justice League TP
There’s very little I want in the world more than Greg Rucka writing a heist thriller using random DC characters, and with Black Magick collaborator Nicola Scott, too. I can only hope this truly does tie in to the ongoing events in the DCU; coming in May in paperback.
- • Crisis on Infinite Earths: Absolute Edition HC
Another with “Absolute Edition” moved to the end to avoid the “Absolute Absolute Batman” problem. Said to collect Crisis on Infinite Earths #1–12 and History of the DC Universe #1–2. Without going to dig my copy of Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths out of storage, I am relatively sure it did not have History of the DCU in it, but did have a companion book of essays and etc. Coming in May 2026.
- • Dark Crisis Omnibus HC
Collects Justice League #75; Dark Crisis #0–7; Flash #783–786; Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1; I Am Batman #15; Dark Crisis: Young Justice #1–6; Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League: Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, and Batman; Dark Crisis: The Deadly Green #1, Dark Crisis: War Zone #1, Dark Crisis: The Dark Army #1, and Dark Crisis: Big Bang #1.
That’s everything that was collected in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Dark Crisis: Young Justice, Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League, and Tales From Dark Crisis. This event changed its mind so many times about what it wanted to be and do, but I still adore some of the character interactions within it.
- • Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter TP
Paperback of the six-issue Elseworlds miniseries, following the hardcover.
- • DC Finest: Batman: A Death in the Family TP
Collects Batman #423–429, Batman Annual #12, Batman: The Cult #1–4, Detective Comics #590–595, and Detective Comics Annual #1. That picks up from the DC Finest: Batman: The Killing Joke and Other Stories volume, being indeed the “Death in the Family” sequence plus an Invasion! tie-in in Detective. These issues are found in Batman: The Caped Crusader Vol. 1 and Batman: The Dark Knight Detective Vol. 2, marking again how this particular DC Finest series is the interspersed version of those two separate collections series.
- • DC Finest: Batman: Blind Justice TP
Collects at least, but probably more than, the “Blind Justice” story from Detective Comics #598–600. Due out in July.
- • DC Finest: Deadman: How Many Times Can a Guy Die? TP
Collects Silver and Bronze Age Deadman appearances with art by Neal Adams and others. This is Strange Adventures #205–216, Aquaman #50–52, Justice League of America #94, Brave and the Bold #79, #86, #104, and #133, Phantom Stranger #33 and #39–41, World’s Finest #223 and #227, Forever People #9–10, Challengers of the Unknown #74, and Superman #183.
- • DC Finest: Fourth World: When the Old Gods Die TP
Said to collect Mister Miracle #1–4, The Forever People #1–5, The New Gods #1–4, Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #133–141, and Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane #115. The contents are about what you’d expect, spanning about the first Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus and into the second, give or take that Lois Lane issue, which is related to Apokolips but I’m guessing is an error in the listing.
- • DC Finest: Green Arrow: The Trial of Oliver Queen TP
Following from DC Finest: Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters, this is more from the Mike Grell run — issues #9–20, Green Arrow Annual #2, Question Annual #2, Secret Origins #38, and Black Canary stories from Action Comics #609–616 and #624–635.
- • DC Finest: Hard Traveling Heroes TP
Contents are listed as Green Lantern #76–82, The Flash #191, and World’s Finest Comics #201, which seems a little off; even the sparsest “Hard Traveling Heroes” collections tend to be Green Lantern #76–87 and #89 and Flash #217–219 and #226.
- • DC Finest: Justice League of America: Starro the Conqueror TP
Being the first Silver Age adventures of the Justice League, from Brave and the Bold #28–30, Justice League of America #1–19, and Mystery in Space #75.
- • DC Finest: Robin: The Origin of Robin TP
No contents listed, but said to collect stories from Batman, Detective Comics, World’s Finest Comics, and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen from the Silver and Bronze Ages.
- • DC Finest: Sgt. Rock: The Rock of Easy Co. TP
Said to collect G.I. Combat #68 and Our Army at War #81–122 by Robert Kanigher, Joe Kubert, and company.
- • DC Finest: Suicide Squad: The Nightshade Odyssey TP
Following the DC Finest: Suicide Squad: Trial by Fire volume from earlier this year, this is said to collect Suicide Squad #11–20, Suicide Squad Annual #1, The Doom Patrol and Suicide Squad Special #1, Flash #12, Manhunter#1 and #6, Justice League International #13, Deadshot #1–4, Checkmate #1 (1997), and Checkmate #8 (1988). I question some of that — Manhunter #1 and #6 are by John Ostrander and Kim Yale, though I don’t see any Suicide Squad material in it. I don’t believe there is a 1997 Checkmate #1, though issues #1 and #8 from the 1988 series do both have Amanda Waller in them. Not sure the provenance of Flash #12, either.
- • DC Finest: Superman: The Last Days of Superman TP
Collects Silver Age stories from Action Comics #144–159, Superman #64–70, and World’s Finest Comics #46–53, published in the early 1950s and “with restored artwork and remastered colors.”
- • DC Finest: Superman: Time and Time Again TP
Collects Superman #49–56, Starman #28, Adventures of Superman #472–479, and Action Comics #659–666, coming in May. As we discussed in our rundown of the possible contents of the Superman: Brainiac Reborn omnibus, this is about the first half of the Superman: The Triangle Era Vol. 1 omnibus.
- • DC Finest: Team-Ups: The Impossible Escape TP
Batman’s Bronze Age team-ups from Brave and the Bold and Super-Team Family, with appearances from Mr. Miracle, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Deadman, and Kamandi.
- • DC Finest: The Demon: Birth of the Demon TP
Collects Jack Kirby’s debut of Etrigan the Demon and classic team-ups — Demon #1–16 (1972–1973) and issues of Brave and the Bold, Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, and more. With work by Len Wein, Gerry Conway, Steve Ditko, and company.
- • DC Finest: The Flash: The Fastest Man Dead TP
Collects World’s Finest Comics #198–199; Flash #197–204, #206–212, #215–229; and Brave and the Bold #99.
- • DC Finest: The Joker: The Last Ha Ha TP
Fascinatingly, the solicitation suggests this collects not only the 1970s Joker series, but also “his modern ongoing.” However, contents are listed as Batman #251, #260, #286, #291–294, and #321; Detective Comics #475–476, #504; Justice League of America #77; Wonder Woman #280–283; Brave and the Bold #111, #118, #129–130, and #141, and Joker #1–10, which is the exact length of the 1975 series, with nothing “modern” in sight.
- • Dc Finest: Western: The Hangman Never Loses TP
In March, collecting Weird Western Tales #12–17, All-Star Western #2–8 and #10–11, Super DC Giant #15, and Tomahawk #130–140, with adventures of El Diablo, Jonah Hex, Rick Wilson, and more.
- • DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Dawn Before Darkness TP
Following DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Origins & Omens, collecting the beginning of Gail Simone’s Wonder Woman run, this is Wonder Woman #36–44 and #600, Secret Six #10–14, Blackest Night: Wonder Woman #1–3, and DCU Halloween Special '09 #1. That is at least the Wonder Woman: Warkiller and Wonder Woman: Contagion collections.
- • DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Enter the Cheetah TP
Picking up from DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Introducing Wonder Woman, this is the Golden Age Wonder Woman #5–9, Sensation Comics #19–34, Comic Cavalcade #3–7, and All-Star Comics #20.
- • DC Pride 2025 HC
Collects the 2025 special in hardcover in May; no word yet if there’s any extras included.
- • DC Universe Bronze Age Omnibus by Jack Kirby (New Edition) HC
New edition of Jack Kirby’s “other” DC stories, including In the Days of the Mob #1–2, Spirit World #1, Weird Mystery Tales #1–3, Demon #1–16, Sandman #1–6, OMAC #1–8, Our Fighting Forces #151–162, Super Powers (Vol. 1) #1–5, Super Powers (Vol. 2) #1–6, and more.
- • DC Universe by Alex Toth: Deluxe Edition HC
Collects work by the influential artist from Detective Comics, House of Mystery, The Witching Hour, Our Army at War, Adventure Comics, and more; said to be “30 stories spanning the 1940s to the 1990s” and “including rare pinups and gallery pieces.”
- • DC vs. Vampires: World War V Vol. 1 TP
Collects issues #1–6 in paperback in June, following this past June’s hardcover.
- • Earth 2: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
An overlooked gem of the New 52 era, this was, to my mind, a perfectly viable modern take on the Justice Society, which unfortunately never quite came together after initial writer James Robinson left. We’ve got DC Universe Presents #0, Earth 2 #0–26, Earth 2 Annual #1–2, Batman/Superman #1–4, Earth 2 #15.1: Desaad and Earth 2 #15.2: Solomon Grundy, Earth 2: World’s End #10, and Earth 2: Futures End #1.
I wonder how accurate/complete the contents are, given I’d expect the entirety of Earth 2: World’s End to be collected (26 issues), but here at least we seem to have Earth 2 Vol. 1: The Gathering, Earth 2 Vol. 2: The Tower of Fate, Earth 2 Vol. 3: Battle Cry, Earth 2 Vol. 4: The Dark Age, and Earth 2 Vol. 5: The Kryptonian.
- • Elseworlds: Batman Omnibus Vol. 1 HC

- • FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics Vol. 1: The Paradigm Shift (New Edition) TP
If I’m not mistaken, this 24-issue Vertigo series by Simon Oliver and Robbie Rodriguez was only collected through issue #13; just a guess, but maybe this new printing of issues #1–7 signals DC’s intention to finish collecting the whole thing.
- • The Flash by Joshua Williamson Omnibus Vol. 3 HC

If no more volumes emerge, then this would indeed collect all of Waid’s original Flash run without the “Wild Wests” issues, Flash #231–237.
- • The Flash: Rebirth: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
Compact Comics collection of Geoff Johns' six-issue Flash: Rebirth and the first eight issues of his subsequent series, collected in Flash: The Dastardly Death of the Rogues.

This will collect Flash Vol. 5: History Lessons, Flash Vol. 6: Out of Time, Flash Vol. 7: Savage World, Flash Vol. 8: Zoom, and Flash Vol. 9: Full Stop, with work by Brian Buccellato, Robert Venditti, Van Jensen, and Brett Booth.

This is a new edition of the book collecting their full run: Green Arrow #17–34 and #23.1, Secret Origins #4, and Futures End: Green Arrow #1 . I reviewed these in trade form as Green Arrow Vol. 4: The Kill Machine, Green Arrow Vol. 5: The Outsiders War, and Green Arrow Vol. 6: Broken.

- • Legends Omnibus HC
No specific issue-by-issue contents listed, but this is said to be the six-issue miniseries and “its expansive tie-ins.” We’ve seen this a couple times now, yeah? The Zero Hour omnibus with all its tie-ins, Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis? Legends opens the door, though — if this one works out, can Millennium and Invasion! be too unrealistic? Armageddon 2001, Eclipso: The Darkness Within, and Bloodlines?
- • Legion of Super-Heroes Five Years Later Omnibus Vol. 2 (New Edition) HC
The end of the classic run where it coincided with Zero Hour, this collects L.E.G.I.O.N. #69–70, Legion of Super-Heroes #40–61, Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #4, Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #5, Legionnaires #1–18, Legionnaires Annual #1, Valor #20–23, and Who’s Who Update 1993 #1.

Collects Nightwing #101–118 and Nightwing 2022 Annual #1, being Tom Taylor’s Nightwing Vol. 4: The Leap, Nightwing Vol. 5: Time of the Titans, Nightwing Vol. 6: Standing at the Edge, and Nightwing Vol. 7: Fallen Grayson (review coming soon!).

Picking up after the “Superman Reborn” storyline, I believe this is Action Comics #977–999 plus the Action Comics Special that ended Jurgens' run, along with his story from Action Comics #1000 and his “”Doom Rising" story across the Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special story and his backups from Action Comics #1051–1057.
That’s Action Comics Vol. 4: The New World, Action Comics: The Oz Effect, and Action Comics Vol. 5: Booster Shot, plus Superman: Lois and Clark: Doom Rising.
- • Superman: Action Comics Vol. 1 TP
In March in paperback, collecting Action Comics #1087–1092 by Mark Waid and Skylar Patridge.
- • Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus HC
Much discussion about the Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus elsewhere on the blog. Fingers crossed that conventional wisdom holds out and this turns out to be the “gap filler” volume between Superman: Exile and Other Stories and the Superman: The Triangle Titles Omnibus Vol. 1.
- • Superman: New Krypton Saga Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
A fantastic, expansive crossover between Superman, Action Comics, and Supergirl, with James Robinson, Geoff Johns, Sterling Gates, and Greg Rucka. I can speak to you at some length about how this long story didn’t end as well as it began, but it was still a great interconnected time on the Super-titles in the late 2000s. This first book collects Action Comics #866–879, Supergirl #35–43 and Annual #1, Superman #681–690 and Annual #14, Superman: New Krypton Special #1, Superman: World of New Krypton #1–5, World of New Krypton Special #1, Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen Special #1, and Adventure Comics Special Featuring the Guardian #1. Also listed are Manhunter #1 and #6 and Flash #12, also listed for the DC Finest: Suicide Squad: The Nightshade Odyssey collection, so I’m skeptical of those.
This appears to be the Superman: Brainiac lead-in story, and then Superman: New Krypton Vol. 1, Superman: New Krypton Vol. 2, Superman: New Krypton Vol. 3, Superman: Nightwing and Flamebird Vol. 1, and Superman: Mon-El, give or take.

Collects Ram V and Mike Perkins excellent 16-issue Swamp Thing miniseries, plus Future State: Swamp Thing #1–2, Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Spectacular #1, and Poison Ivy/Swamp Thing: Feral Trees #1, the latter two of which I haven’t read yet. I reviewed The Swamp Thing Vol. 1: Becoming, The Swamp Thing Vol. 2: Conduit, and The Swamp Thing Vol. 3: The Parliament of Gears in 2022–2023, and I’ve been glad to see Swamp Thing Levi Kamei stick around since then.
- • Swamp Thing by Rick Veitch Book Three: Time Upon a Once TP
Collects Swamp Thing #80–87 and Swamp Thing Annual #5. Veitch’s unpublished Swamp Thing #88 is not explicitly referenced in the solicitation, so up in the air whether it gets some kind of nod here or not. The inclusion of Neil Gaiman’s Midnight Days may or may not be the same thing as the annual; also mentioned is Swamp Thing/Vertigo Special #1–4, but I’m not sure what that is.
- • Teen Titans by Geoff Johns Compendium One TP
Collects Teen Titans #1–28 and 1/2; Beast Boy #1–4; Outsiders #24–25; Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day #1; Teen Titans/Outsiders Secret Files 2003 #1; Teen Titans/Legion Special #1; Supergirl #2 (Titans appearance); Teen Titans/Outsiders Secret Files 2005 #1; DC Special: The Return of Donna Troy #1–4; and Legends of the DC Universe 80-Page Giant #2.
