DC Comics December 2025 trade paperback and hardcover solicitations, representing late January and into February, don’t have near the “oomph” of last month’s, lacking mainly Mark Waid’s New History of the DC Universe. But the second volumes of Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Superman are nothing to sneeze at and — nobody spoil it for me — I’m really hoping Green Lantern Dark is a full-on return to the Tangent Universe. So not nothing, either.
I feel I should probably be more excited about the first collection of Superman Unlimited, but honestly I have no experience with Dan Slott’s work so it doesn’t feel like as much of a “get” as it might to others. If I thought Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton was an actual in-continuity origin and not just a one-off Krypto tale, that might excite me more, too. I don’t need to get DC Finest: Superman: Time and Time Again but by all means, if the Superman: Triangle Era Omnibus Vol. 1 is too rich for your blood, that’s half of it and for my tastes the best money you can spend.
Other regular series books: I haven’t posted my review of Jeremy Adams' fourth Green Lantern volume yet, but I enjoyed it very much and I’m eager for Green Lantern Vol. 5. Similarly I haven’t posted by review of Tom Taylor’s first Detective Comics volume either, but I also liked that and I’m looking forward to Batman: Detective Comics Vol. 2: Elixir. There’s also Batgirl Vol. 2, the second Fire & Ice book, Jeff Lemire’s JSA Vol. 2, and then on the Black Label side, the return of Mitch Shelley via Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma by Ram V.
Meanwhile, DC continues to get a lot of mileage out of their creator-driven runs, from the omnibuses Titans By Tom Taylor to Batman by James Tynion Vol. 2, plus the evergreen Batman and Robin by Peter J. Tomasi in its third volume. Looks like the Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War Compendium has some extra material, I think previously uncollected, from Sinestro Corps appearances in Halloween specials and such; I really like that the “Compendium” line does this.
Let’s look at the full list.
Recent DC Comics Trade Solicitations
- • Absolute Power TP
In February, paperback of the Mark Waid/Dan Mora event miniseries, following the hardcover. Why this is listed as the “2026 Edition,” I couldn’t tell you.
- • Absolute Superman Vol. 2: Son of the Demon HC
In hardcover and paperback in March, the second volume by Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval. I reviewed the first volume, Absolute Superman Vol. 1: Last Dust of Krypton, this past August.
- • Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 2: As My Mothers Made Me HC
The second volume of the Eisner award-winning series by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman, in hardcover and paperback in February, collecting issues #8–14. I reviewed Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon also this past August.
- • Batgirl Vol. 2: Bloodlines TP
In paperback in February, the second DC All In volume by Tate Brombal and Takeshi Miyazawa.
- • Batman and Robin by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason Book Three TP
Collects Batman and Robin #29–40, Batman and Robin Annual #3, Robin Rises: Omega #1, and Robin Rises: Alpha #1, the end of Peter Tomasi’s run on the series. The title would be relaunched a few months later as Robin, Son of Batman by Patrick Gleason alone. I reviewed the issues in Batman and Robin Vol. 7: Robin Rises in 2016.
- • Batman by James Tynion IV Omnibus Vol. 2 HC
Collects Batman #52 (“The List,” final issue of the New 52 run, by Tynion and Riley Rossmo); Batman #106–117, Detective Comics #1027, Batman: Black & White #1, Joker #5–15, The Joker 2021 Annual #1, Batman Secret Files: The Gardener #1, Batman Secret Files: Peacekeeper-01 #1, Batman Secret Files: Miracle Molly #1, Batman: Fear State: Alpha #1, and Batman: Fear State: Omega #1.
This is essentially Batman Vol. 4: The Cowardly Lot and Batman Vol. 5: Fear State, the end of Tynion’s run, plus the superlative Joker Vol. 2 and Joker Vol. 3.
- • Batman: Detective Comics Vol. 2: Elixir HC
In hardcover and paperback in February, the next volume by Tom Taylor and Mikel Janin, collecting issues #1097–1102, including the oversized issue #1100, with contributions by Greg Rucka, Bill Sienkiewicz, and more.
- • Batman: Gotham by Gaslight: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
Collects Batman: Gotham by Gaslight and Batman: Master of the Future by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola.
- • Batman: Universe: Deluxe Edition HC
Deluxe edition of the Brian Michael Bendis/Nick Derington stories that were originally published in the Walmart-exclusive Batman Giant titles. I reviewed Batman: Universe in 2020, calling it “a charming, lighthearted take on Batman that’s as fun as they come.” Includes a new introduction by Matt Fraction.
- • Batman: White Knight: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
The Black Label miniseries by Sean Murphy in Compact Comics format. I reviewed Batman: White Knight in 2018, presenting “a gritty, socially complex Gotham really only a hair’s removed from our own.”
- • Crisis On Infinite Earths: The Absolute Edition HC
Another with “Absolute Edition” moved to the end to avoid the “Absolute Absolute Batman” problem. Said to collect Crisis on Infinite Earths #1–12 and History of the DC Universe #1–2. Without going to dig my copy of Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths out of storage, I am relatively sure it did not have History of the DCU in it, but did have a companion book of essays and etc. Coming in May 2026.
- • DC Finest: Batman: The Case of the Chemical Syndicate TP
Batman’s Golden Age debut, collecting the original Detective Comics #27–52 and Batman #1–5.
- • DC Finest: Green Arrow: The Trial of Oliver Queen TP
Following from DC Finest: Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters, this is more from the Mike Grell run – issues #9–20, Green Arrow Annual #2, Question Annual #2, Secret Origins #38, and the Black Canary stories from Action Comics #609–616 and #624–635 that have never been collected before.
- • DC Finest: Superman: Time and Time Again TP
Collects Superman #49–56, Starman #28, Adventures of Superman #472–479, and Action Comics #659–666, coming in February. As we discussed in our rundown of the possible contents of the Superman: Brainiac Reborn omnibus, this is about the first half of the Superman: The Triangle Era Vol. 1 omnibus.
- • DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Enter the Cheetah TP
Picking up from DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Introducing Wonder Woman, this is the Golden Age Wonder Woman #5–9, Sensation Comics #19–34, Comic Cavalcade #3–7, (previously listed, but not in these solicitations, is All-Star Comics #20).
- • Earth 2: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
An overlooked gem of the New 52 era, this was, to my mind, a perfectly viable modern take on the Justice Society, which unfortunately never quite came together after initial writer James Robinson left. The contents are, not unexpectedly, reduced from the Spring 2026 solicitations, which included some issues from later in the run.
For now, we’ve got a story from DC Universe Presents #0, Earth 2 #0–26, Earth 2 Annual #1–2, and Batman/Superman #1–4. This is Earth 2 Vol. 1: The Gathering, Earth 2 Vol. 2: The Tower of Fate, Earth 2 Vol. 3: Battle Cry, Earth 2 Vol. 4: The Dark Age, and Earth 2 Vol. 5: The Kryptonian.
- • FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics Vol. 1: The Paradigm Shift (New Edition) TP
If I’m not mistaken, this 24-issue Vertigo series by Simon Oliver and Robbie Rodriguez was only collected through issue #13; maybe this new printing of issues #1–7 signals DC’s intention to finish collecting the whole thing.
- • Fire & Ice: When Hell Freezes Over TP
The sequel six-issue miniseries by Joanne Starer and Stephen Byrne, in paperback in January.
- • Flash by Mark Waid Omnibus Vol. 3 HC
Collects Flash #142–163 (previously listed as up to issue #162, Waid’s final issue), Flash Annual #10–13, Showcase '96 #12, Green Lantern/Flash: Faster Friends #1–2, Flash Secret Files and Origins #1–2, Speed Force #1, the Life Story of the Flash graphic novel, Flash 80-Page Giant #1–2, and Flash #1,000,000. If no more volumes emerge, then this would indeed collect all of Waid’s original Flash run without the “Wild Wests” issues, Flash #231–237.
- • Green Arrow: The Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 1 (New Edition) HC
Reprint of the previous volume, collecting More Fun Comics #73–107, Adventure Comics #103–117, and World’s Finest Comics #7–28, with an introduction by Roy Thomas.
- • Green Lantern Dark HC
In hardcover in February, collecting the seven-issue miniseries by Tate Brombal. The solicitation says, “Explore the bitter remains of the fan-favorite Tangent Universe” and I hope that’s not just hyperbole!
- • Green Lantern Vol. 5: Fractured Spectrum TP
By Jeremy Adams and Fernando Pasarin, collecting issues #19–24 in paperback in February. I have really been enjoying Jeremy Adams' Green Lantern volumes lately and I’m eager for this one.
- • Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War Compendium TP
Said to include Green Lantern #18–24, Green Lantern Corps #14–38 (though that’s probably really to #18 or #19), Green Lantern Sinestro Corps Special #1, Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Parallax #1, Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Cyborg Superman #1, Blue Beetle #20, Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superman Prime #1, Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Ion #1, Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files and Origins #1, The Brave and the Bold #1–2, and stories from DC Universe Halloween Special (2008) #1, DC Universe #0, Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files and Origins #1, Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1, and DC Universe Halloween Special (2009) #1 – so, a lot of nice apocrypha there that I don’t think has been collected before.
I reviewed Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 in 2008.
- • The Invisibles Compendium TP
The whole of Grant Morrison’s series in one volume, being The Invisibles #1–25, The Invisibles Vol. 2 #1–22, and The Invisibles Vol. 3 #1–12 (this should be #12–1, I understand). Zach King reviewed all seven original collections of The Invisibles right here on this site in 2011.
- • Joker: The Bronze Age Omnibus (New Edition) HC
Said to collect Batman #251, #260, #286, #291–294, #321, #353, #365–366, #400; Brave and the Bold #111, #118, #129–130, #141, #191; DC Comics Presents #41, #72; Detective Comics #475–476, #526, #532; Justice League of America #77; Joker #1–10; and Wonder Woman #280–283 – a bit more, it seems, than the upcoming DC Finest: Joker: The Last Ha Ha volume, but with plenty of overlap.
- • JSA Vol. 2: Ragnarok HC
In hardcover and paperback in February by Jeff Lemire, this collects issues #7–12 of the new series.
- • Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton TP
In paperback in February, collecting the five-issue miniseries by Ryan North and Mike Norton.
- • Peacemaker Tries Hard! TP
The six-issue miniseries, in hardcover in February, by Kyle Starks and Steve Pugh.
- • Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma TP
In January, the six-issue Black Label miniseries by Ram V and Anand RK.
- • Shade, the Changing Man by Peter Milligan and Chris Bachalo Omnibus Vol. 2 HC
Collects Shade, The Changing Man #38–70, the final issues of the series, plus Vertigo Jam #1 and Vertigo X Preview #1, with a new introduction by Peter Milligan.
- • Superman in the Seventies (New Edition) TP
New printing of the collection. This previously collected Superman #233, #247, #248, #249, #270, #271, #276, #286, and #287; Action Comics #484; DC Comics Presents #14; Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #133; and Superman’s Girl Friend, Lois Lane #106, with an introduction by Christopher Reeve.
- • Superman Unlimited Vol. 1 HC
In hardcover and paperback in February, the first six issues of the new series by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque.
- • Teen Titans Go! Big or Go Home! TP
Honestly not sure if this is a collection of issues or a new graphic novel, by Shelly Fisch and company.
- • Titans By Tom Taylor Omnibus HC
Collects Nightwing #101–104, 110 and a story from #109; Titans #1–15; and Titans: Beast World #1–6, being the Nightwing Vol. 5: Time of the Titans, Titans Vol. 1: Out of the Shadows, Titans: Beast World, and Titans Vol. 2: The Dark-Winged Queen collections.
